DUBLIN, Ireland - A man who was arrested after a search of premises in Dublin appeared before the Criminal Courts of Justice in Dublin on wednesday on drug trafficking charges.
Garda attached to the North Central Divisional Drugs Unit during the search seized approximately €94,000 worth of drugs, over €30,000 in cash and six imitation firearms.
The search was carried out at a residence on Gardiner Street, Dublin 1 on Monday, Monday.
The saga began around 8:15pm on Monday night, when garda stopped and searched a vehicle in Frederick Court, Dublin 1. The driver, a man in his 40s, was found to be in possession of a quantity of cocaine, Alprazolam tablets and a significant amount of cash. He was arrested and taken to Store Street Garda Station where he was detained.
During a follow-up search operation in Gardiner Street, garda seized 4kg of suspected cannabis herb with an estimated street value of €80,000 and suspected Alprazolam tablets with an estimated street value of €14,000.
Six imitation firearms were also seized during the search operation and approximately €32,000 in cash.
A woman in her 20s was arrested during the follow-up search and taken to Store Street Garda Station where she was detained. She has since been released without charge and a file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
Gardai say investigations are ongoing.
