CO LOUTH, Ireland - A man has been killed after his car collided with a lorry in County Louth on Monday afternoon.

Garda and emergency services attended the scene of the fatal road traffic collision at Cookstown in Ardee, Co.Louth.

The collision occurred at approximately 2pm.

The driver of the car, a man aged in his 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later. The driver of the lorry was uninjured.

The car driver's body has since been removed to the morgue at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda. The local coroner was notified and a post-mortem is scheduled to take place.

Garda are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this incident to contact them. Any road users who were travelling in the Cookstown area between 1.50pm to 2.10pm on Monday afternoon, and who may have camera footage (including dashcam) are asked to make it available to Garda.
