CO OFFALY, Ireland - Two men are now being questioned over the beating to death of 23-year old Ashling Murphy last week.

A man in his 30s, who was arrested on Tuesday, is being held on suspicion of murder and continues to undergo questioning.

Ashling Murphy, a teacher, and musician is alleged to have been fatally assaulted at approximately 4:00pm last Wednesday, along the canal bank at Cappincur, Tullamore, County Offaly where she was running.

The man is being detained at Tullamore Garda Station under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 continues this afternoon.

An Garda Siochana has since arrested a second male, also in his 30s, in connection with the investigation. This man is being detained at a garda Station in the Eastern Region. He is being questioned in relation to potentially withholding information.

An Garda Siochana say the investigation into Ashleigh's death is continuing and no further comment is available at this time.
