CO MAYO, Ireland - A near-midnight two-vehicle collision in County Mayo has resulted in the death of two men.

First responders rushed to the crash scene on the Balla to Claremorris road, on the N60 at Facefield, Co. Mayo around 11:50pm Wednesday night.

At the scene they found a car had collided with a truck. The driver of the car, and his passenger, both men in their 20s, died at the scene.

Their bodies have since been removed to mortuary at Mayo University Hospital. Post-mortems will take place in due course.

The driver of the truck, aged in his 30s, was taken to Mayo University Hospital as a precaution.

The road was closed with local diversions in place. Garda Forensic Collision investigators carried out an examination of the scene on Thursday morning.

Gardai are appealing for witnesses to come forward and any road users with video footage (including dashcam) is asked to make this available to them.
