CO KERRY, Ireland - A man in his 20s who was struck by a taxi cab on Sunday has died at the scene.

The fatal collision took place on the R553 at Ballydonohoe, Lisselton near Ballybunion in County Kerry. shortly after 2:00am on Sunday morning.

Gardai and Emergency Services were quickly on the scene. The pedestrian was treated for his injuries but passed away soon after the collision.

His body has since been removed to the mortuary at University Hospital Kerry. The taxi driver, a man in his 40s, did not require immediate medical treatment.

The scene of the collision was preserved for examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators whilwe traffic diversions are in place. The local Coroner has been notified.

Gardai in Listowel are appealing for witnesses to contact them. They are particularly appealing to any road users with camera or dashcam recordings, from the R553 between Ballybunion and Listowel between 1:30am and 2:15am Sunday, to make this footage available to them.
