CO KILDARE, Ireland - In a significant crackdown on drug-related crime, Gardai launched a day-of-action on Thursday, as part of Operation Tara, a sustained effort to combat the supply of controlled drugs and associated criminal activities in County Kildare.
During the meticulously planned operation, authorities executed searches at seven residential properties and lands in the Sallins area, unearthing substantial evidence of illegal activity.
Among the key findings, law enforcement officers uncovered a quantity of cocaine valued at €8,000. The seized cocaine is currently awaiting analysis to provide further insight into its composition and purity. Additionally, a substantial sum of €34,000 in cash was seized, further intensifying the operation's impact.
As a result of these developments, three individuals were apprehended and subsequently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984, at a Garda Station in County Kildare. The detained individuals comprise two boys in their late teens and a man in his early 20s.
The successful operation was spearheaded by the Kildare North Drugs Unit, with crucial support from the Naas Detective Unit, Divisional Search Team, Garda Dog Unit, and various other local units. This coordinated effort highlights the commitment of law enforcement agencies to address drug-related issues plaguing the community.
In the wake of the operation, the seized drugs will be sent to Forensic Science Ireland (FSI) for analysis, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the evidence collected.
