DUBLIN, Ireland - A man and a woman have been arrested after Gardaí seized an estimated €198,000 worth of suspected controlled drugs during searches in the south-central area of the capital.
The searches, carried out at a residential property in the Dublin 8 area on Wednesday, were part of Operation Tara — the nationwide Garda initiative targeting mid to senior-level drug trafficking.
Members of the DMR South Central Drug Unit led the operation, uncovering approximately €175,000 of suspected alprazolam tablets, commonly known as benzodiazepines, along with a further €23,000 of suspected cannabis herb.
The seized substances have been sent to Forensic Science Ireland for further analysis.
Both suspects, a man and a woman aged in their 40s, were arrested at the scene. They are currently being detained at separate Garda stations in Dublin.
