CO ROSCOMMON, Ireland - A man has died following a single-vehicle road collision in County Roscommon early on Sunday morning.
The crash occurred at Carrigans Park in Donamon, and emergency services were called to the scene. The incident, which involved only one car, is understood to have taken place in the early hours.
The driver, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was a man in his 60s. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
His body has since been removed to the mortuary at Galway University Hospital, where a post-mortem examination will be carried out at a later date. The local coroner has been informed.
Garda Forensic Collision Investigators conducted a technical examination of the road, which remained closed for a time. Local diversions were in place while the investigation was carried out.
Witness appeal
Gardaí are now appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision to come forward. They are particularly keen to speak with road users who travelled through the Carrigans Park area on Sunday morning, between 5:00am and 9:00am.
Anyone with camera footage, including dash-cam recordings, is asked to make this available to investigating officers.
